University electronic physics chemistry of Lyon

The University electronic physics chemistry of Lyon' (also known under the name of ESCPE Lyon or CPE Lyon for Chemistry, physics, electronics), is a school of Engineer S French entitled on opinion of the Commission of the titles of engineers.

It is located on the campus of Endowed It with Villeurbanne (the Rhone) and accommodates 300 pupils by promotion (given 2002).

It was born in 1994 from fusion from two schools: ICPI (Institute of industrial physical chemistry, founded in 1919) and ESCIL (University of industrial chemistry of Lyon, founded in 1883).

Organization of the schooling

There exist three dies:
  • Chime Genius of Processes (CGP) - approximately 150 pupils by Electronic promotion
  • Telecom Data processing (ETI) - approximately 100 pupils by Data-processing promotion
  • and Communication networks (IRC) die in alternation managed by ITII Lyon - approximately 40 pupils by promotion

The course of CPE Lyon makes it possible to the students to carry out one year of caesura between 2nd and 3rd year of engineer that it is abroad or in France. Approximately 80% of the students of CPE LYON carry out this year of caesura by an in-company training.

The course in CGP is composed three years disctintes well. The first year is reserved for an mainstream education of chemistry:

  • analytical chemistry
  • organic chemistry
  • genius of the processes
  • catalyzes…

Same manner, the first year in ETI is reserved for an mainstream education in data-processing electronics/:

  • electronic of the linear systems
  • mathematical applied
  • treatment of the signal and image
  • directed object and algorithmic programming…

The second year is composed of two parts: a first part continuing mainstream education, the second when the pupils can choose the first specialization.

Moreover, CPE Lyon wove many partnerships with foreign universities so that the pupils carry out them 2nd or 3rd year of engineer abroad.

  • 1994: The University of industrial chemistry of Lyon (ESCIL) and the Institute of industrial chemistry and physics of Lyon (ICPI) amalgamate to found the University electronic physics chemistry of Lyon (CPE Lyon)
  • 2005: Jean Dercourt, Secretary perpetual of the Academy of Science, becomes the President about it.

Former students

Among the former students of the school, some reached a certain notoriety in various fields:

Scientific research

  • Yves Chauvin (ESCIL 1954): Nobel Prize of Chemistry 2005
  • Jean-Marie Basset hound (ESCIL 1965): Member of the Academy of Science, prize winner in 1991 of the price of the max Planck Society
  • Emile Kuntz (ESCIL 1965): prize winner 2005 of the Price Chéreau Lavet - Grand Prix of the Academy of technologies
  • Jean Fréchet (ICPI-C 1966): Professor with the the University of California to Berkeley, holder of the pulpit Henry Rapoport

  • Jean-François Grollier: vice-president and managing director R & D of L'Oreal

Other personalities

According to the newspaper the Point 2005, CPE Lyon is classified 16th (on 44) schools of engineer post- vat.

Junior-company

Synergy is the Junior-Company of CPE Lyon. It is resulting from the meeting into 1994 from the Junior-Companies from the ESCIL and the ICPI.

International

CPE Lyon was one of the first schools to institute the programme of year in company in France or abroad. The school has also a network of partnership extended with more than 80 foreign universities and schools where the pupils of last year can carry out one year of exchange or obtain a double diploma. This partnership includes:
