The university degree of technology ( HAD ) is a national diploma of the higher education French created in 1966 and prepared in the academic institutes of technology. It is directed towards the professional insertion of the students, but proposes also a solid formal training which allows the continuation of studies in schools of engineers, in the general licenses, IUP or the professional licenses. HAD is more general than a BTS.
The entry in IUT is done on file among candidates having the Baccalauréat (France). The formation lasts two years (or four six-month periods). In certain cases it is possible to enter directly in second year.
The lesson comprises courses and TD, but also of the TP, projects tutorés and an in-company training.
HAD is a diploma of the European space of higher education insofar as each unit of validated teaching brings back appropriations ECTS, and the diploma obtained confers 120 of them. HAD is a driving intermediate diploma with the rank of license.
