University Tōkyō Gakugei

the University Tōkyō Gakugei , in Japanese: 東京学芸大学 ( Tōkyō gakugei daigaku - University of the liberal arts of Tōkyō), often shortened in 学芸大 ( Gakugeidai ) by the student of preparatory class (Rōnin) or more simply in 学大 ( Gakudai ) by its pupils and his personnel, is a national university located in the town of Koganeishi, in the suburbs of Tōkyō. It was founded in 1949 during the fusion of four of the most important institutions of training of professors de Tōkyō: the teacher training schools 1,2 and 3 of Tōkyō (東京第 (一, 二, 三) 師範学校 - Tōkyō Dai- (ichi, nor, san) Shihan Gakkō ) and the teacher training school for young men of Tōkyō (東京青年師範学校 - Tōkyō Seinen Shihan Gakkō ). Oldest of these institutions, the teacher training school 1 of Tōkyō had been founded in 1873.

It has a single trade: the faculty of pedagogy. It was a long time famous for the training of professors, producing quantity of professors of school, of the elementary schools to the colleges. Although it has only one faculty, it has many departments and thus covers many fields of sciences.

Starting from 1954 are proposed the courses of liberal arts (学芸専攻科 - Gakugei Senkōka ).
As of 1966 are proposed higher cycles. The course of liberal arts takes the name of course of education (教育専攻科 - Kyōiku Senkōka ).
In 1973 are proposed special cycles of education (特殊教育特別専攻科 - Tokushu Kyōiku Tokubetsu Senkōka ).
Since 1996 are proposed cycles of doctorate (大学院連合学校教育研究科 - Daigakuin Rengō Gakkō Kyōiku Kenkyūka , or more simply 博士課程 - Hakase Katei ) in the field of education where Tōkyō Gakugei is presented as a principal institution of a coalition including/understanding the Université of Chiba, the Université of Saitama and the National university of Yokohama. The contributions of Tōkyō Gakugei are particularly recognized in the fields of the training of Japanese, art, the music and international education; fields in which its courses are among the best of Japan.

These last years, Tōkyō Gakugei developed programs innovating for better meeting the needs for the professors, by in particular proposing courses of the evening and short sessions. Moreover, the university shelters some national research centres in the field of education. Its campus is located in an attractive district, to 20 min of the downtown area of Tōkyō by express train, and it maintains a certain number of public schools which are attached to him in various districts of the suburbs of Tōkyō, which enables him to provide innovative programmes of teaching in the elementary one, the secondary and specialist education.
