The university Presses of France (PUF) are a university Publisher founded in 1921 by a college of professors. In the Years 1930, they amalgamated with three editors: Felix Alcan (associate with its nephew Rene Lisbon) (mainly specialist in Philosophy), Leroux (editor of History) and Rieder (general Literature).
The PUF knew a very important Restructuration in 2000 by opening in particular with the contribution capital of privately held companies (17% of the capital are thus held by Flammarion and 9% for the group of insurance Maaf Assurances).
The collection Which do I know? was a long time one of the florets of this editor. Founded in 1941 by Paul Angoulvent, the idea was to treat the greatest number of subjects under a simple format (pocket format, 128 pages, printed only in black and white) and at a reduced price. This collection meets an immense success with, today, approximately thousand three hundred titles available, a hundred and sixty million sold specimens and the Traduction S in forty-three languages.
