University Hospital College

University College Hospital is a University hospital of London in England, located very close to the Gare of Euston. It is a component of the University College Hospitals London NHS Trust and it is associated with one of the universities of London, the University College London (UCL).

It was founded in 1834, eight years after the UCL, under the name of North London Hospital (hospital of the north of London). It is in this hospital that, the December 21st 1846, the surgeon Britannique Robert Liston carried out the first operation under Anesthésie (of the ether) in Europe. This hospital became independent of UCL in 1905 and a new building drawn by Alfred Waterhouse opened in 1906 and always exists.

It absorbed the National Dental Hospital in 1914 and Royal Ear Hospital in 1920. The new building of the hospital was inaugurated the June 14th 2005.
