University Corporation for Atmospheric Research

The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research ( UCAR ) is a founded non-profit-making corporation in 1959 by institutions of research with programme of doctorate in sciences of the atmosphere and fields related. UCAR was set up to increase the data-processing and observational potential beyond what no university could do indiviuellement.

UCAR continue its work thanks to two intituts distinct: the research center National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the office of the programs of UCAR (Office off Programs or UOP). UOP provides in real-time weather data to the colleges and American universities for their courses and their research. UOP also organizes missions of research to the four corners of the world and has its personal program of formation called MAKES.

The principal contributors with the budget of UCAR are the the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the American Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the department of energy, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), some other agencies and organizations.
