Universal Priesthood
The universal priesthood is a Christian religious principle which affirms the equality of all baptized in the evangelic mission. He is formulated in the First epistle of Pierre (cf 1 P 2,5).
One finds it applied for example in the Assemblées Protestant Brothers , as promoted by John Nelson Darby.
However, contrary to a spread idea, universal priesthood is not restricted with the Protestantisme: the Catholicisme sees there no contradiction with the Presbytérat and the sacramentality.
By the Baptism, Christ also calls each baptized to become priest, prophet and king , in particular with the oiling of the Saint-Chrism which makes celebrating it.
Baptismal priesthood is the consequence of the social Royauté of Jesus-Christ.
