Universal Indicator
Universal Indicator is the name of group of artists, members of Rephlex Records. It was been used for an exit of LP of Acid house (from where the reference of the name to the acid sound like Indicateur as pH). The collective was inspired by English producers such as Baby Ford, has Guy Called Gerald, and 808 State.
These members are not ignored, Richard D. James and Mike Dred took the orders of these productions well. Richard D. James was under the name of Martin Tresseder and Mike Dred under his pseudo The Kosmik Kommando.
Four 12" S (vinyls) very limited had left respectively under the name of Universal Indicator by using the colors used on the spectrum indicator acid pH: Blue (in 1992), Red , Yellow (in 1993) and Green (in 1995) like titles of album, but instead of titles because these LPs do not contain any, the vinyls are in color, each one has its particular color.
Mike Dred produced the Blue and Yellow , and Richard D. James the Red and Green .
In 2001, mixed integral CD of Universal Indicator , under the name of Innovation in the Dynamics off Acid of The Kosmik Kommando, appeared at Rephlex Records and the same year, Universal Indicateur 5 ( Utra-Purple ) in 12" (vinyl), 5th the series had left, under the name of The Kosmik Kommando also, at Beta Bodega Records, but unfortunately with limited pulling.
Then, the words “ Universal Indicator ” became a term at Rephlex Records to indicate an album made up of pieces created starting from the electronic instruments of the mark Roland.
