The United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) is the command of the USAF based in Europe since the end of the Second world war.
Its general headquarter is located since 1973 on Ramstein Air Bases, in Germany.
It depends on the United States European Command.
History
United States Air Forces in Europe which had its district-general on the bases of Wiesbaden, in Germany since 1945, in the years 1950, four squadrons had deployed to the United Kingdom, 3 in West Germany and six in France, is: 18000 people and 800 planes of any types.
6 French air bases are then:
- Chateauroux-Déols
- Chambley-Bussieres
- Laon-Couvron
- Toul-Rosières
- Chaumont-Semoutiers
- Dreux-Louvilliers
Opened starting from 1952, they all are closed in 1967, following the decision of the French government to withdraw integrated command of NATO.
