United Nations Conference on Trade and Developme
In 1963, 75 countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America calls with the launching of the UNCTAD: Conference of the United Nations for the Trade and the development. Created by UNO in 1964, the UNCTAD seeks to affirm the cohesion of the countries of the South around a major claim: rebalanced exchanges, which supposes the access of the countries of the South to the markets of North and the improvement of the terms of exchange. Indeed, the countries of the Tiers-monde considered that the liberal principles fixed by GATT did not answer their problems spécifiques.
It should be noted that this organization which meets every four years wanted to put an end to the ultra liberalism in the relations between industrialized countries and less developed countries by founding a positive discrimination in the exchanges, to balance the relations between the unequal parts. The UNCTAD produced many legal provisions international. However for its hour of glory in the years 1980 this organization has declined. Today the hour is not any more with interventionism but with liberalism (collapse of the USSR, market economy in China). This organization was more or less forced to join the current location of OMC.
