The Union of the democratic center is a Spanish political party of center and center-right, created in 1977, which constituted the transition governments of after Franquisme of 1977 to 1983 pennies the direction of Adolfo Suárez, and which broke up thereafter. It counted components Christian-Democrats, liberal, social democrat and preserving (" indépendants"), these last resulting from the system pro-Franco and being converted with the democratic process, like Adolfo Suárez itself. The UCD controlled Spain without having parliamentary majority, and thus profited from the co-operation of the parties so much of left (Socialists and Communists) that of right-hand side (popular Alliance). Its members then found themselves within the Popular party and of the democratic and social Center.
