The Union of the Soviet type-setters was established by Stalin in 1932. It is about a body of the apparatus, charged to evaluate the work of the type-setters of the the USSR. This evaluation is based in particular on criteria of adequacy of work with the political interests into force. The evaluation is done with the vote, by the same type-setters them.

Thus, Schnittke, Chostakovitch, for example, belonged to the Union of the type-setters, and sometimes had to appear before it.
