Union of the Jewish progressists of Belgium

the is a movement set up in 1939 by Jews antifascists under Jewish the Solidarité denomination, in 1946 " Jewish solidarity, assistance with the victims of the oppressor nazi" , which adopted its current name in 1969.

On the Belgian level, the UPJB does not form part of the Coordination committee of the Jewish organizations of Belgium, connects Belgian world Jewish Congrès, because of its dissension with the statutory object of the CCOJB, that is to say " the support by all the means appropriate to the State of Israel, centers spiritual Judaism and harbor for the threatened Jewish communities ". The UPJB is member since 2003 of the network “Juifs Europeans for a peace fair” which gathers seventeen Jewish organizations of nine European countries.

Since the general meeting of February 27th, 2005, the president is Jacques Ravedovitz, born in 1949, his predecessor was Henri Wajnblum, born in 1938.

The UPJB diffuses by subscription a publication which has as critical a Points title - the monthly magazine, also accessible on line.
