The Union of Brest (in Belorusse: Берасьце́йскаяву́нія) indicates the decision in 1595 - 1596 of the Church of the Rus' of Kiev, the “Metropolis of Kiev-Galicie and all Rus'”, to break its relations with the Église of Constantinople to place itself in the jurisdiction of the Église of Rome.

The Church Ukrainian Greek-catholic, Church linked in Rome of Byzantine Rite, was born from this Union.

It is always an element of tension between Rome and the orthodoxe Communion, in particular with the Russian orthodoxe Église.
