Union for the defense of Republic (UDR) was the name adopted in 1968 by the party gaullist, which was called, of 1958 with 1968, the Union for the new Republic (UNR) and, of 1971 with 1976, the Union of the democrats for the Republic. The UDR became in 1976 the Rassemblement for the Republic (RPR). He points out, by his name, the defense committees of the Republic created in May 1968 by the party gaullist.
