Union for a popular movement (parliamentary group)

The group Union for a popular movement (UMP) is a joint committee French currently present in the two rooms of the Parliament of this country.

History and composition of the group

The group was made up with the National Assembly in 2002 under the XIIe legislature of the V° République. It succeeded the group Union for the Presidential majority. After the legislative Elections of 2007, it was reformed the June 26th 2007 by the elected officials of the Union for a popular movement, Radical party valoisien, National center of independent and country the, Mouvement for France and of the deputies Divers right-hand side.

Majority group with the National Assembly under the XIIe and XIIIe legislatures, it is currently chaired by Jean-François Cope. With the August 19th 2007, it counted 313 members and 8 related.

With the Senate, it gathers the elected officials of the Union for a popular movement, Rassemblement for France, of the National center of independent and country the and the senators Divers right-hand side. With the August 20th 2007, it counted 146 members, 5 related and 6 attached for a total of 157 senators. In the Upper House of the French Parliament, it holds the relative majority. Its current president is Josselin de Rohan, of the UMP.
