Union Pro Patria
The Union Pro Patria (in Latin, pro patria means for the fatherland - in Estonian Isamaaliit ) is a Political party Estonia N.
It is a party member of the European Popular party as its former rival Res Publica with whom it amalgamated the November 15th 2006, to form a conservative party of which the ambition is to gain the elections of 2007. With the international level, he is member of the international democratic Union.
Historically, it is already a federation of two parties Isamaa and Eesti Rahvusliku Sõltumatuse Partei , ERSP. These two parties amalgamated in only one in December 1995. Its leader Mart Laar, Prime Minister since March 1999, gave his resignation the January 8th 2002.
He has approximately 2.900 members.
Its current leader is Tunne Kelam, appointed European since 2004.

It obtained 7 seats (out of 101) with the elections with the Riigikogu of March 2003 and a European deputy (on 6) at the time of the elections of June 2004.
A party had borne this name in the the Thirties: Isamaaliit.
