Unihockey

The unihockey , also called floorball , is a sport of team where 5 players and a guard clash, the objective being to put with an unfavourable aim a ball using a stick.

General information

The unihockey (in English floorball , in Swedish innebandy , Finnish salibandy , German Hallenhockey / Unihockey ) is a sport of team. It is connected with the hockey, with some differences indicated below.

Origins

The exact origins of the unihockey, on the international level, are badly known. It is necessary for all to speak about it like an evolution about the Hockey. Indeed, in the majority of the Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Finland, etc), this play was practiced the summer, in room of gym or outside, like complementary drive. The interest for the unihockey of many countries of Europe and the world did not cease increasing throughout the years 1980. The number of practitioners does not cease increasing, the unihockey was structured and imposed like a discipline on whole share.

Rules

Here are some basic rules to be able to play unihockey.

The ground

The ground ( large ground ) made 40 m length for 20 m broad and is surrounded by a band in Polymère 50 height cm (called rink ), which give him its form. One evolves/moves there with 6 players, of which a guard. The goals are distant of 36 Mr.

There exists an alternative small ground (mainly in Switzerland). The small ground made 24 m length for 14 m broad and is surrounded by a band from 30 to 50 cm in height. One evolves/moves there with 3 players and a guard. The goals are distant of 18 Mr. They have the same size as on the large ground.

In the best Swiss leagues (LNA and LNB) and out of Swiss Cut, just like on the international plan, the unihockey is played only on large ground. The small ground exists in Switzerland for 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th leagues, in parallel with the large ground, like for the basic categories of the juniors. The championships large ground and small ground are separate. There exists also the Cut of the league, which opposes only teams small ground.

The unihockey is a sport which is practiced in room of gym. The guard, protected by a helmet and a stuffed tunic, does not have a cane for a greater mobility and defends his knee cage. The players have a composite material cane with which they guide a hollow ball in figure.

  • If the ball passes over the edge (50 height cm rink), one plays an exit to 1,5 m to the maximum of the band (1 m for the small ground).
  • For all faults, the referee whistles and a frank blow is played (direct authorized). The player must play the ball in the 3 seconds after having immobilized it on the ground, by striking it.
  • All the exits or faults behind the prolongation of the line of goal are made at the point bully nearest (equivalent of the corner in Football).
  • During a handing-over concerned, the unfavourable players must be, canes included/understood, to 3 m (2 m on small ground) of the ball at the time when the player touches the ball (2 minutes of penalty in the event of non-observance).
  • the play begins or sets out again after a goal by an engagement at the central point of bully. A player of each team is face to face (parallel feet), canes parallel on the ground, and await the whistle before playing. The other players are to 3 m (2 m on small ground).

The zone of goal and the protection zone

  • For the faults of defense made in the zone of goal (if there is no penalty), the frank blow will be moved back at a distance of 3,5 m (2,5 m on small ground) of the protection zone of the guard.
  • Any fault which prevents a goal (it does not matter that it was made in the zone of goal or outwards) is sanctioned by a penalty (the player engages since the medium of the ground towards face to face with the guard without having the right to move back, only the guard and the gunner is on the ground).
  • Neither defense, nor the attack have the right to put the foot in the protection zone of the guard (small zone in front of the guard). During the formation of a wall, if a defender has a foot in this zone, a penalty must always be marked (prevention of a goal).
  • When the guard seizes ball, the assailing players must be held with a minimal distance of 3 m (2 m on small ground). If they are held nearer, it can be sanctioned by a frank blow and if, moreover, they try to obstruct the guard or to intercept the ball, they must be sanctioned by a 2 minutes penalty.

The player

  • can play the ball only until the height of the knees and raise the cane until the height of the hips (movement of shooting higher license only ahead if nobody is in the vicinity).
  • cannot strike with its cane the body of the adversary or its cane (2 minutes if repeated).
  • the hard contacts (body check) are prohibited (2 minutes), only the contact shoulder-shoulder is authorized. The use of another part of the body for a contact is prohibited (infringement to push ).
  • cannot jump to play the ball.
  • Must play the ball with the cane, the feet, the legs or the chest.
  • cannot voluntarily touch the ball with the arms, the hands or the head (2 minutes).
  • cannot play on ground, nor without cane (2 minutes).
  • cannot voluntarily touch 2 times of continuation the ball with the foot.
  • cannot make a voluntary master key with the foot.
  • cannot voluntarily mark a goal with part of the body.
  • cannot move back with the ball against a player ( for lack of attacker ).
  • cannot put its cane or its foot between the legs of the adversary.

The guard

  • Cheek without cane and must always catch the ball by having part of the body in the zone of goal.
  • It can nevertheless leave the zone of goal, but it must behave as a player without cane (not to touch the ball of the hands, nor on the ground, not of master key of the foot, etc)
  • When it blocks the ball, it can preserve it only 3 seconds.
  • It can release or make a master key beyond the line of the medium ground only if this one touched the ground, the bands or a player before crossing it.
  • It cannot be seized of a ball addressed voluntarily by a fellow-member (new rule of the master key in withdrawal, as with the Football).
  • It cannot mark a goal itself, even if the ball touched the ground before crossing the line of centers (a goal cannot be marked that by means of a cane, but the guard does not have any).

Differences with the hockey

  • the playing field is a room of gymnastics and is smaller.
  • the players do not have shoes, nor of protections (except the guard).
  • the guard does not have a cane.
  • the ball is of form spherical and is hollow.
  • the rink is only 50 cm high (against ~2m with the hockey).
  • the rules are much more restrictive and more severe concerning the hard play, in order to protect the players.
  • After a fault (with or without penalty), a frank blow is granted to the opposing team (except special cases).
  • the matches are directed by two equal referees in rights (large ground) or a referee (small ground).
