Unified Iraqi Alliance

The unified Iraqi Alliance ( الائتلافالعراقيالموحد ; transliteration: Al-I' tilāf Al `Irāqī Al-Muwaḥḥad ) is the electoral coalition which gained the elections December 15th 2005 in Iraq. One finds below the groups united in this list.

Alliance had been formed already for the elections January 30th 2005, starting from groups Chiite S, mainly the Islamic party Dawa and the Supreme council of the Islamic revolution in Iraq. Among the adherent groups, one will still note the Iraqi, laic National congress, directed by Ahmed Chalabi, which since left the coalition, and the nuclear physicist Hussein Chahristani. One still notes some disciples of the radical monk there Moqtada al-Sadr which preferred not to support its party of the Cadres and elites national independent, as certain representatives of the Sunnite S. the coalition famous was supported by the Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani, most respected religious figures in Iraq, although the ayatollah did not decide officially.

Many members off the Alliance lived in exiles in Iran, including Ibrahim Al-Jaafari who leads the Islamic Al-Da' wa Party and has emerged ace the face-runner to become Iraq' S Prime Minister. In early March 2005, the Iraqi Turkmen Face agreed to join the UIA' S caucus in the National Assembly according to Zaman Online . In return, Sistani reportedly pledged support for the recognition off Iraqi Turkmen ace has national minority.

Prior to the December elections the National Iraqi Congress left, and more off Moqtada Al-Sadr' S joined. Al-Sistani also stated that He would not support any party in this election. --->

Before the elections of December 2005, Alliance lost some adherent groups, mainly the Iraqi National congress, which did not prevent it from obtaining 41.2% of the polls, therefore 128 of the 275 seats.
