The Projet Unihan is an attempt at unification of the Han characters or hanzi. It is the process employed by the authors of Unicode and UCS to code the play multi-caratères languages CJC in a unified play mono-characters. The Chinese characters are common to the Chinese (Hanzi), to the Japanese (Kanji), and to the Korean (Hanja).
Le Korean, Chinese and Japanese can represent a character Han or Sinogramme in various manners. However, in the formulation of Unicode, these differences were reduced.
Cette unification is often called Unification Han or Unihan.
The Unihan project uses the free dictionaries amongst other things EDICT (Japanese-English, started in 1991), and CEDICT (chinese-english, started in 1997).
