Umeälven

Umeälven is a river of the north of the Sweden, one longest of the country.

Geography

Umeälven takes its source starting from the lake of Överuman, Commune of Storuman, in the south-west of the Lapland. Then it moves towards south-east through the Lapland while crossing the lake Storuman. The river continues its course in the county of Västerbotten for jetter in the Gulf of Bothnia with Holmsund, close to Umeå, the city which gave its name to the river.
