Umaru Yar\' Adua

Umaru Musa Yar' Adua (born in 1951 with Katsina) is a politician Nigeria N, governor of the State de Katsina of the May 29th 1999 with the May 29th 2007. and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the political principal party Nigerian. He is invested president the May 29th and lent oath the May 30th 2007. He succeeds Olusegun Obasanjo thus.

Studies

Yar' Adua follows studies of chemistry to the University Ahmadu Bello, located at Zaria. After its studies it starts to teach.

Governor

Yar' Adua takes its functions of governor of the State de Katsina on May 29th, 1999. It remains most of the time in its State and does not venture in the arena national policy.

Yar' Adua is the brother of Shehu Musa Yar' Adua, a former general and millionaire, friend of the president Olusegun Obasanjo.

Nomination

Yar' Adua deposits its candidature for the nomination of the PDP for the presidential election of April 2007. At the time of the internal primary education with the PDP of the December 16th 2006, Yar' Adua comfortably is chosen by 4000 delegated PDP. It receives 3024 votes, preceding the 11 other candidates easily.

According to a representative of the International Crisis Group, “ If there had been a normal democratic operation, it would have had no chance there that it is elected. ”

The victory of Yar' Adua, politician local and without charisma, is due mainly to the support of president Obasanjo who tore off the support of influential politicians.
