UltraBackup

UltraBackup is an application of data back-up for Windows written in Delphi by Adrien Reboisson and diffused on Internet site Astase. It is of type Donationware for the private individuals and the companies where less than one certain number of employees use the software.

UltraBackup 4

UltraBackup 4 (2004) is a backup solution of data intended to automate the safeguard of files, by preserving their original structure or by safeguarding them in the shape of file ZIP. She proposes, inter alia, the following functionalities:

UltraBackup 2007

Following the example other software of safeguard, this version uses a database for virtualiser the safeguarded tree structure, the exploited engine being the free software FireBird.

UltraBackup 2007 proposes like functionalities and as example the safeguard in background by a service application, the conservation of successive versions for the same file (with integrated options of removal of the obsolete versions), research globalized of safeguarded files, the compression and the using coding of the algorithms standardized like Blowfish or Rjindael and the generation of reports/ratios of controls detailed for the execution of the safeguards.

The storage of the backup files is basically different from that of UltraBackup 4. The file of safeguard consists of a whole of files burst in various files, representing the versions of the documents safeguarded, and identified thanks to their single number of safeguard. Not-compression in a single file preserves the integrity of the versions in the event of failure disc and authorizes synchronization on other sites of storage with utilities like Rsync.

UltraBackup 2007 is not a a free software but its author proposes on his site of the documents describing the format of storage used and allows his exploitation by third applications.

UltraBackup 5

The coming out date of UltraBackup 5 is not yet known. Its principal difference with UltraBackup 2007, in addition to the addition of new functionalities, will be the return to a storage of the backup files of the type UltraBackup 4, i.e. directly readable or zippés files.

UltraBackup Netstation

UltraBackup is also available in version Client-serveur. UltraBackup Netstation thus makes it possible to centralize data storage on a station waiter which one can manage remotely.
