Ultimate World

Ultimate World is a novel of Science-fiction, written in 1959 by Hugo Gernsback (the United States), published in 1971.

Plans are implemented to equip certain cities with enormous tanks with chloroform (or a gas are equivalent) to protect their inhabitants from the " 10-ball" (gigantic flying machines).

When a " 10-ball" approaches a house, the gases are released in the circuit of the city, it is enough for the inhabitants then to the house in question of opening their burners to defend oneself. The gas goes up then towards the " 10-ball" by the purple tubes to make unconscious the Xenoses.

In this work Hugo makes a certain number of predictions such as for example:

  • diffusion of the television channels by satellite

  • the use of the satellites for espionage
  • the solar energy utilization
