Ujiji , Udjiji or Oudjiji is a town of Tanzania established on the Lac Tanganyika, with approximately 10 kilometers in the south of Kigoma. It was as of the XIXe century an important commercial counter for the relations between the central Africa and the Eastern Africa (Zanzibar). Richard Francis Burton and John Hanning Speke visited the city in 1858 during their forwarding to the research of the sources of the the Nile. It is downtown of Ujiji that took place the November 10th 1871 the historical meeting between David Livingstone and Henry Morton Stanley, which accommodated the first of a " Do Doctor Livingstone I suppose? ".

The city was it even the center of a vast state, generally called of the same name Ujiji (" country of Jiji").
