Uithuizermeeden
Uithuizermeeden (locally: Mij ) is a village Dutch in the extreme north of the province of Groningue, between Uithuizen and Roodeschool. Nowadays, Uithuizermeeden belongs to the commune of Eemsmond. The village is located at the end of the Meedstermaar and has a Gare on the line Groningue - Roodeschool.
The name of Uithuizermeeden means the meadows ( maden ) of Uithuizen. Historically, the area was always very wet, only usable as meadows and meadows.
History of the commune
Independent commune until 1979, Uithuizermeeden amalgamated on January 1st, 1979 with Uithuizen to form the new commune of Hefshuizen. After the fastening of several other communes on January 1st, 1990, this common changes name into 1992 and becomes Eemsmond .
