Ugyen Wangchuk
Ugyen Wangchuck (or Ugyen Wangchuk ) (1861 - 1926) king of Bhutan of the Wangchuk dynasty of 1907 with 1926 is the first. It was previously Penlop (governor) of Tongsa. Since its base in the central Bhutan, Ugyen Wangchuck overcame its political enemies and unified the country following several civil wars and revolts (1882 - 1885).
In 1907, Ugyen Wangchuck was unanimously selected as hereditary monarch of the country by the people of Punakha, then capital of the Bhutan.
