Ubundu

Ubundu , known in the past under the name of Ponthierville or Ponthierstad (according to Pierre Ponthier), is a locality and a territory of the province Orientale in Democratic republic of Congo.

Located on the river Congo/Luluaba, it is the last locality accessible by boat while coming by the upstream. The city is connected to Kisangani by way of railroad, which makes it possible to ensure transport while following the river, by avoiding the Chutes Boyoma (known in the past under the name of Stanley Falls ).
