Uakari bald person

The uakari bald person ( Cacajao calvus ) is a Singe bald person with a characteristic red face.

He lives in the drills marshy with the Brésil, the Peru and in Colombia. The species is classified as almost threatened in the red Liste of the UICN (2004) because of the hunting and the destruction of its habitat.

The uakaris bald people nourish especially Graine S and of Fleur S, like sometimes of small animals.

They live in mixed groups including/understanding from 5 to 30 individuals, and pass the major part of their time on the ground in the search of seeds. He sleep the night in the trees to ensure their safety. The season of reproduction takes place between October and May. The females encourage the males to couple themselves by the means of a gravitational odor. The duration of the Gestation is unknown.

Four subspecies are recognized:

  • Cacajao calvus calvus

  • Cacajao calvus ucayalii
  • Cacajao calvus rubicundus
  • Cacajao calvus novaesi
