UZEB was a group of Jazz-rock'n'roll fusion Québécois created with Montreal in 1976 and dissolves in 1992. Mixing instrumental virtuosity with the modern stamps of the numerical Synthetizer S, it produced original jazz-fusion compositions.

History

After having made its first concert with Saint-Eusèbe, Quebec, the group adopts the name of Eusèbe-Jazz, summary later in UZEB. The group is established in Montreal. The beater Jean Saint-Jacob and the bass player Alain Charon unite in Cusson in 1978. Saint-Jacob will be replaced by Sylvain Coutu and then, in 1980, by Paul Brochu. In 1987, the group is a formed trio of Cusson, Charon and Brochu.

UZEB became a popular group in Quebec in the years 1980. It also made several rounds in Canada.

UZEB makes its first European round in 1981 in Bracknell Jazz Festival (England). Then, in 1983, it occurs with the Jazz festival of Paris, and it records discs in Olympia of Paris. It also occurred in other countries of Europe and in the Far East in 1990. On the other hand, he seldom played in the United States.

The most popular compositions of UZEB are Junk Funk , Smiles and Chuckles , Mile “O” , 60, rue des Lombards , Spider and Uzeb Club .

Honors

The group gained the Prix Felix group of the year in 1984 and 1989 (in competition with pop groups and Québécois rock'n'roll) and those of the disc of jazz of the year in 1983,1984,1986 and 1987. In 1991, UZEB receives the Prix Oscar-Peterson.
