US Airways (Code AITA: US ; Code ICAO: E. - U. ) is a American Airline company. US Airways serves more than 92 destinations to the the United States, with the Mexico, the the Antilles and in Europe with 3.400 departures per day.

Its four subsidiary companies with 100% are: Allegheny Airlines, Inc., Piedmont Airlines, Inc., Potomac Air and PSA Airlines, Inc.

Chronology

  • May 4th, 2004: US Airways joined the network Star Alliance (16th company).

  • May 11th, 2004: Hardly left the bankruptcy, on March 31st, US Airways announced an enormous ordering of 550 planes of regional transport, including 170 firm controls, also distributed between the manufacturers Canadian Bombardier CRJ and Brazilian Embraer, for an amount estimated at 4,3 billion dollars US.

  • September 13rd, 2004: It is the 7th American airline company to require the protection of the American law on the bankruptcies. Although restructured considerably and centred on the interior regional connections, it accumulated heavy losses. Already placed first once, 3 years ago, under the protection of the “ chapter 11 ”, it seems today to play its last chart before liquidation.

  • September 25th, 2004: US Airways required of the judge in charge of of its file of bankruptcy to temporarily impose wage sacrifices on its employees, in order to save 200 million dollars from here at the beginning of 2005.

  • October 4th, 2004: US Airways, in bankruptcy, announces to have concluded a draft-agreement with the trade union representing its 3.200 pilots, bearing on wage cuts enabling him to save 300 million dollars per annum. This agreement is fundamental to achieve the goal of a billion dollar of annual economies that the company was fixed.

  • May 19th 2005, US Airways and America West Airlines announced their fusion, under the trade name of US Airways. Their vocation is to transform itself into a company at low cost, like Southwest Airlines, but with a higher size. The certificates of operability initially remained separate during an integration which with lasted two or three years. Doug Parker, president d' America West became the chief of the whole, whose general is with Tempe, in Arizona. US Airways (and its subsidiary company, US Airways Express train) served 179 airports while America West served 96 of them. The new whole with hub S with Charlotte, Phoenix (Arizona) and Philadelphia with platforms of secondary correspondence to Las Vegas and Pittsburgh. The unit operates 361 principal aircraft (against 419 before), helped by 239 regional jets and 57 turbopropellers (forecast at the beginning of 2006). The two companies employ, before this fusion, respectively 30.000 and 14.000 agents.

  • June 15th, 2006: US Airways cargo liner wanted to reinforce its market shares European while separating from Lufthansa, company with which a recent agreement existed, and by giving its operations cargo liner to a new ambitious GSA: " International Airborne GMBH " , based in Frankfurt under the Worse direction of Mr. Joao Ramos, and recently (April 3rd, 2006) in Roissy Charles de Gaulle under the direction of a dynamics director, Samer Sfeir. The results are already encouraging.
