UGC Ciné Quoted the Markets is a Multiplexe Paris IEN located at the Forum of the Markets.

History

With the opening of the Forum of the Markets, two cinematographic complexes coexisted: Gaumont the Markets (6 rooms, from 130 to 380 armchairs) and the Forum cinema, become Forum Rainbow after its repurchase by Jean-Pierre Lemoine (2 rooms of 150 armchairs each one, then 2 others of 300 and 250 armchairs). The Forum East-Express train adds 6 rooms while opening in 1983.

In 1986, Jean-Pierre Lemoine opens the complex Forum Horizon, conceived by the architects Christine and Dominique Carril, and firm the Forum Rainbow. Then, the Forum Horizon is resold with UGC, at the same time as all the rooms of Jean-Pierre Lemoine, in March 1992.

The Forum Horizon closes in January 1995, and UGC undertakes work of enlarging, for a budget of 140 million investment, by also absorbing the site of the oceanic Parc Cousteau closed a few months before. Work undertaken at this time there is very important. For example the demolition of a concrete whale taken more than one week.

Conceived by the architect Alberto Cattani, keeping part of the fitting of the old cinema, the UGC Movies-City opens on June 21st 1995 with 15 screens, at the same time first multiplexes to open in Paris, but also first Movies-City opened by UGC. Two years later, four rooms are added. Its opening will involve closing later three years, of Gaumont the Markets, at the last day of 1998.

It remains always to date in Paris, the greatest of number of rooms and the first in term of frequentation.

The UGC Movies-City the Markets is located in the part of the Forum of the Markets called the New Forum intended to become a cinematographic pole when the Forum of the images (old Cineclub of Paris) currently in work will have reopened its doors and that the Bibliothèque of cinema François-Truffaut will have moved on the site.

This New Forum (located near the Produce exchange) is still haunted by the memory of the turning of Touche not to the white woman! , the Franco-Italian film of Marco Ferreri, left in 1973 and turned in these places which were reduced then to simple “hole”.
