UCI ProTour 2006
UCI ProTour 2006 gathers the elite of the Cyclisme on road under the aegis of UCI (International Union Cyclist).
Organization
UCI set up in 2005 a new system which constrained teams of the Elite to take part in the 27 tests registered with the calendar “UCI ProTour”. No cyclist not being able to run all these tests, a bearing will be done within these teams. Each test gives points and a classification will make it possible to know the best team of the year. The Tour de France gives, for example, 100 points with the winner, against 80 for the turns of Spain and Italy, and 50 for very great classic like Paris-Roubaix or Milan-San Remo.20 teams designated like Elites known as " ProTour" must obligatorily take the departure of the 27 races registered with the calendar. Other teams known as " continentales" can also on invitation organizing take part it in some of these races.

Teams
In 2006, the team AG 2R Prévoyance replaced the dissolved team Fassa Bortolo at the end of the season 2005.
