UCI ProTour 2005

The UCI ProTour 2005 which gathers the elite of the Cyclisme on road is the first of the kind.

Organization

UCI sets up in 2005 a new system of elite which constrained all teams to take part in all the tests of the calendar “UCI ProTour”. No cyclist not being able to run all these tests, a bearing will be done within these teams. Each test gives points and a classification will make it possible to know the best team of the year. The Tour de France gives, for example, 100 points with the winner, against 80 for the turns of Spain and Italy, and 50 for very great classic like Paris-Roubaix or Milan-San Remo.
