U96
U96 is a musical project techno formed by the German producers Alex Christensen, Alberto Ingo Hauss, Helmut Hoikins, and Hajo Panarinfo, known for many " classiques" Eurodance of the Years 1990.
History of the group
Its name is due to the famous film Das Boot on the German submarine of the Second world war U 96. The first success of the project, Das Boot (1991), is a version Techno/Dance of the credits of film, composed originally by Klaus Doldinger. The album of the same name reached also the first place of the sales and preceded the commercial development of the Dance in Germany.The clearly experimental sound of the électropop of the years 1980, the Ambient and the Disco influenced the opus according to Replugged (1993) which was also a business success in spite of its lack of originality. Titles while resulting as Coils Sees No Color or Night in Motion , characterized by its sounds of engine and car and typical of the techno-pop airs " classiques" , were among the 10 best sales. Calmer titles like The One Russian and Without You supplement this album, being able to be regarded as precursors of the Trip hop. It should be noted that the title Eve Off The War/War Of The Worlds has as a subject the War of the worlds whose text is explicitly quoted.
The following album, Odd Club , left in 1995, marked a radical change of the " its U96". The album mixes the influences of techno-pop with the Trance, musical genre very in vogue at this period, which entirely dominates the album. Greatest successes of this album are the very fast Love religion (with Daisy Dee) as well as the Odd title éponyme Club with the harmonics " classiques" , re-used later on by Brooklyn Bounce.
Motor Music also published a Odd Club Interactive CD-ROM . The audio part of this CD-ROM includes/understands many musical tracks and the multi-media part a discography, an interview of Alex Christensen and a little game under Mac OS and Windows.
In 1996, the opus according to Heaven left. This album involving and well was very formatted commercially, in spite of electro-pop influences always present however covered by insertes eurodance and the pop Rave typical (of style " Scooter ". A new singer, Dea-Li (Dorothy Lapi), took part in the preparation of 4 of the titles of these albums.
The following years, the titles Seven Wonders (1997), Energy (1998), Beweg Dich, Babies (1998) and finally Das Boot 2001 (2000) were published. Instead of a new traditional album, U96 left compilation Best Of 1991 - 2001 including/understanding titles resulting from the new album Rhythm Of Life . The last piece We Call It Love was published in 2003 like only titrates promotional.
U96 made its return in signal 30 of best the German sales in 2006 with their title calmer Vorbei , on which collaborates the singer invited Ben. The group then left an album named Out off Wilhelmsburg in March 2007.
