U.D.O.

U.D.O. is a group of Heavy traditional metal German rested by the singer Udo Dirkschneider in 1987 following its separation with the mythical group Accept.

History

After being itself separate of Accept in 1987, Udo Dirkschneider founded its own group which wanted to be a continuation of the original spirit of Accept, where the remainder of this group preferred to borrow more commercial voices.

The first album of U.D.O Animal House (1988) was written by Accept. This album and that of Mean Machine (1989) U.D.O are located in the line of pure the heavy metal for which Accept is particularly famous. These two albums more or less constitute a direct continuation of the musical direction of the album Russian Roulette of Accept.

Thereafter the group began in an orientation more accessible and more directed towards the hardware FM, with the album Faceless World . It is the album which has the most success.

Following a certain number of personal concern whose abandonment to manage to them and an heart attack which was followed from there, the group returned in 1991 gone up to block and delivers one of the most aggressive albums of the career of U.D.O. : Timebomb an album of speed metal without consession largely influenced by the Painkiller of Judas Priest.

In 1992, during the reformation of Accept, Dirkschneider ceased the activities of its group.

It is only in 1996, when Accept separated again, that it reformed group UDO with novel members (in particular Stefan Kaufmann the old beater of Accept, become guitarist within this formation). Only Schwarzmann, beater of old the line up returns to the barrels. The guitarist Matthias Dieth briefly returning during the recording of a recovery of Judas Priest, Metal Gods , for the tribute album " Legends Off Metal". It records a new album in 1997, " Solid" who openly wants to be the continuator without concession of Accept, where the latter would have been compromised (according to Udo) by exploring other stylistics possibilities in the albums Death Row and Predator.

Since, Udo and its group continue their career with albums in the spirit close to Timebomb and Mean Machine always while referring to the glorious hours of Accept. Udo regarding its group as the continuation of the spirit of Accept. And besides, in concert more half of their interpreted repertory makes up of traditional of Accept (Balls to the Wall, Metal Heart, Princess off the Dawn, Fast ace the Shark, etc,…). During last years, UDO left the albums which resemble each other enough from/to each other that it is No Limits , Holy , Man And Machine , Thunderball or Mission No X

In 2005, Udo declined the proposals to be implied at greater length in a new meeting of Accept, because he refused to put a term at the activities of his group. This is why Accept meets only for one series of shows, before Udo turns over to deal with its own group.

Its last album goes back Mastercutor to it left in 2007, and continuous in the line of these preceding albums, although they tried certain innovations in their arrangements.
