University College Cork RFC or UCC RFC is a club of Rugby Irish based in the town of Cork, in Irish Republic which evolves/moves in the Irish championship of the Second Division.

The club is affiliated with the federation of the Munster and its players can be selected for the team representative of the area, Munster Rugby.

History

The club is the section Rugby of University College Cork which belongs to the national university of Ireland. Founded under the name of Queen' S College in 1849, the college adopts Rugby in 1872, date registered in a book of rules published in the use of the students ( The Rule off Foot Ball ace Played At Queen' S College ). Trinity College had made some as much with Dublin. At that time, the college plays 22, the teams with XV appearing only in 1877.

The blazon of the team carries the emblem of the pirates, a crossed cranium and two tibiae, whose origin remains dubious. One of the tracks is that it would come owing to the fact that the college was primarily a medical school. Certain students, medical student spirit obliges, would then have proposed these attributes morbid and aggressive to distinguish the sportsmen from the college. On cranium is registered the war cry, “Your rax rum! ”, resulting from the song which accompanies the exploits by the team.

  • Your rax rum da

  • Sha ruffle ruffle
  • Horum harum ruffle ruffle ruffle
  • Bull bulldozer barum
  • Beer gold gin
  • We' L make the Old Skull
  • Gasp gold grin
  • Ra ruffle ruffle jamboree
  • Horum harum U.C.C.!

This song extended then to all the sporting sections from UCC.

The club has evolved/moved for several years in the Second Division of the championship of Ireland.
