Tzipora (Tzipi) Livni (Hebrew: ציפילבני) (born with Tel Aviv the July 5th 1958), is a political woman Israeli. Since its election with the Knesset in 2001 like deputy of the Likoud, it occupied of many stations in various governments. It is 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister since the May 4th 2006.

In 2006, it is classified like the 40e the most powerful woman in the world by the magazine Forbes. In 2007, it is classified 39e.

Biography

Tzipi Livni was born with Tel Aviv the July 5th 1958 and there always saw. She is married and mother of two children. She is the girl of Eitan Livni, an immigrant of Polish origin , which was director of the operations of the Irgoun and for this reason organized the attack against the hotel King David in 1946, then was member of the Likoud and member of Parliament. She was lieutenant in the army and worked four years with the Mossad with the beginning of the year 1980. She is graduate Faculty of Law of Bar Ilan, and exerted as a lawyer, specialized in the public law and commercial.

Livni supported the Disengagement plan of the occupied territories of Ariel Sharon and was strongly implied so that this plan is approved by Knesset, in particular by trying a mediation with the members of the party opposed to this operation. She is also regarded as belonging to the peaceful members of Likoud.

The November 12th 2005, it is the first line political personality to speak during ten years the official commemoration of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.

The November 20th 2005, it leaves Likoud to join Ariel Sharon in her new party, Kadima.

February 1st 2005, it declares that the barrier of separation which the Hebrew State in the West Bank builds will constitute the future border with the Palestinians: “One does not need to be a genius to see that this barrier will have implications on the future border” “It was not the reason of its installation but this barrier could have political implications” .

The January 5th 2006, following the hospitalization of the Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, it declares with the journalists: “ We request for Ariel Sharon, and I will make all my possible personally to help the Prime Minister by interim to take up his duties and to make the good decisions at the same time”, putting an end to the rumors which claimed that it could succeed Sharon with the head of the new formation Kadima.

It is third among the chief candidates of the Kadima party to the Israeli legislative elections of 2006. It thus becomes member of the 17 {{E}} Knesset after the victory of the party to the elections.

Tzipi Livni is the first member of an Israeli government to make the distinction between the Palestinian attacks aiming of the Israeli military targets and the terrorist attacks against civilians. She declares American thus on television, the March 28th 2006: “ Somebody who is fighting against Israeli soldiers is year enemy and we will fight back, goal I believe that this is not under the definition off terrorism, yew the target has soldier. ”

At the end of April 2007, a temporary version of the Rapport Winograd which analyzes the reasons of the Israeli failure at the time of the attacks of Lebanon in 2006 is published.
