Tyrolienne
The term tyrolienne indicates several tools but also a method of song (see Tyrolienne (song))
Means of transport
The tyrolienne is a mode of displacement used for the crossing in height of an obstacle made uneven like a ditch or another natural or artificial basin. The the Tyrol is an Alpine area for the greatest part located in Austria and for another of less surface forming integral part of Italy of North East. In this broken area, the use of this type of device was to be practiced if not current what explains can be the name of " tyrolienne".
There is often confusion between the tyrolienne which is overall horizontal and the " Taggle rope " or " Zip line " who is definitely downward.
The Téléphérique S are other means of transport suspended on rope which have a greater sophistication in the materials and the methods of installation.
The course on a tyrolienne varies according to the goal and the equipment of the crossing.
Goal of the tyrolienne
- A tyrolienne can be a method of drive physical, used for example in the Armée (Commando) or in Sport with outdoor (Spéléologie, Alpinisme, Accrobranche.).
- A tyrolienne can be more prosaically means of transport for the people or the goods (material, animals.) in the poor and/or broken areas where the construction of a Bridge or a footbridge is not possible
Equipment of the tyrolienne
- The simplest equipment, does not require any equipment other than the rope (cord, cable.). Its use is reserved in the passing of the people. The individual is lying on the cord (the face of the head against the cord or the cable). He retains himself with a leg folded on this cord. The other leg is hanging. The progression is done by the force of the arms. This method is long, painful and dangerous. It is confined with short crossings and/or purely sporting exercises.
- The tyrolienne can also comprise a pulley which slips along the rope and thus facilitates the progression. Utility initially, this technique from now on is adopted as attraction in the recreation parks within the framework of a lifting Parcours.
Installation of the tyrolienne
There exist several alternatives of installation of tyrolienne, according to the number of cords, the type of mooring at the ends and the nature of the moving element.
In particular, the mooring of the ropes at the ends can be either fixes, or adjustable by Contrepoids. The latter disposiion is preferable by far for the long installations.
A technique of installation and use is here detailed: .
History of the tyroliennes
One can make go up the creation of the lifting parks at the years 1930, in Italian Dolomites. In order to cross, in an air and rather sporting way, a chasm separating two rock needles, it was able that one tightens between these two peaks a double cord, on which the bold ones could lie down and " ramper" in the airs. This installation and the exercise which followed bore the name of " tyrolienne" (see higher).
The longest tyrolienne of the world was launched in August 1997 in ex- Czechoslovakia through the throats of Zadiel, in margin of the international congress of speleology, organized in parallel by the UIS with the Lime-of-Bottom (Suisse). Composed of only one cord 12 mms in diameter, its range was of 847 meters. See VEL' KY TRAVERZ.
A very long tyrolienne exceeding the kilometer of range is in project within the framework of the European congress of speleology which will be held with Lans-in-Vercors in August 2008. See Presentation TVTet Calculations TVT.
Rough-casting machine
The Tyrolienne or rough-casting machine is also one limps out of electro-coated with zinc sheet being able to project coating of frontage on masonries thanks to the action of a rotor, provided with stainless steel plates. At a certain turning moment, these plates are bandaged towards the back by an adjustable stop (thrust) then by continuing rotation, the plates are abruptly slackened to come to type curtly against a stop being on the rotor. The purpose of this action is to eject with precision the matter out of the machine in million of droplets. The machine is usable by all very easily obtaining the most beautiful rough coats of finest most varied with by projection of cements, mortars, all-loan mixtures. Made in France and invented there is more than 50 years by the French company: The Tyrolienne. A reference on the matter. The Tyrolienne is, in the field them rough-casting machines, which Frigidaire is in that of the refrigerators.
The name of Tyrolienne (rough-casting machine) comes from an old method of completion of frontages by masons coming from this italo-Austrian area. At the twentieth century much of these workers intervened on the French building sites. At the origin these masons gave the last layer of rough coats for the completion of the frontages (sand mortar often tinted with white cement and white lime) by soaking a brush of birch in a cement paste and by giving a shock on that Ci in order to project in a regular way this finishing coat. There exists an alternative to apply this top coat. Projection is made " with the truelle". This way requires a certain skill to spread out a regular grain. All these methods were thus called naturally " balai" in professional and popular language of building site. The inventor of the mechanical apparatus (Tyrolienne) had the idea to replace this method known as " balai". He thus took as a starting point the place of origin of these masons to name his lucky find and to deposit the mark. Today this work is generally carried out using a gun and of a compressor of air. Very often the ejection is delivered out of bag or in silos with the desired color. This product is known as " monocouche".
