Tyrannosauridae
The tyrannosauridés ( Tyrannosauridae ) are one of Théropode S (Dinosaure S carnivores) of the end of the Crétacé, alive in the northern hemisphere. This family was composed of carnivores of very big size, and was characterized, compared to resembling and older the such Allosauridé S of the Jurassic , by an extreme specialization of the mouth, genuine machine to be killed, with the detriment of the arms, more and more rachitics and not very functional group. The scientists think that they were used to them to rise. They had very powerful rear limbs, frames for the race. It is estimated that one tyrannosauridé in full load could reach only 25 km/h according to the last studies. This family is extinct sixty-five million years ago, at the same time as the other dinosaurs.
In addition to famous the Tyrannosaurus rex , the known members of this family are (nonexhaustive list):
- the Gorgosaure and the Albertosaurus , found in Canada, which one a long time held for a single animal (length: 9 meters).
- the Tarbosaure of Mongolia (length: 12 meters).
- the Dasplétosaure , found in the United States and which could be well the direct ancestor of the Tyrannosaure (length: 8,50 meters).
- the Alioramus , l
' Aublysodon and l' Alectrosaure , smaller versions and more primitives found in the Gobi Desert (length: 6,50 meters). - the Nanotyran , dinosaur found in the United States, version " naine" (length: 6 meters).
