Type of vine
The stock is a foot of Vigne, formed of 2 parts: the understock (vine chosen for the quality of development of its roots in the ground) and the air part, the graft (vine giving of good grapes).
The vine stock was the badge of the Roman Centurion.
In the language running, a type of vine is a young vine characterized by the form of its Feuille S and of its Grappe S. On the level Botanique, it is a Cultivar i.e. a variety of made up population individuals Génétique lies different but who show close characteristics, rather than a variety with the botanical direction of vine. The type of vine can be multiplied only by vegetative way (Bouture, Marcottage or Clerc's Office).
The vine is a plant which transfers very easily, it arrives that the same seedling produces two different grapes. It is thus, which the gray Pinot and the white Pinot are changes of the black Pinot.
The study of type of vines is called the Ampélographie (of the Greek ἄμπελος , the vine).
One distinguishes type of vines from tank, intended for the production of Vin, and type of vines of table, intended for the production of table grapes.
