Tyler Hamilton

Tyler Hamilton is an American racing cyclist born on March 1st 1971 with Marblehead in the United States. It is in particular famous for its exceptional resistance to the pain, but its career is tarnished by businesses of doping.

It becomes professional in 1995 with the Montgomery team then of 1999 with 2001 for the US team Postal where it becomes one of the principal “lieutenants” of its leader Lance Armstrong. For this period, he arrives all the same to s´adjuger Critérium of Dauphiné Libéré (2000). In 2002 and 2003 it leaves l´équipe American and leaves to the TEAM CSC and becomes leader in his turn of a team. It will finish in particular second of the Tour of Italy 2002, in spite of a first fracture with the clavicle and serious problems with the jaw. Its courage is again praised lorsqu´il finishes fourth of the Tour de France 2003, in spite of a new feature of fracture to the clavicle. In 2004, Phonak engages it with like objective announced the final victory with the Tour de France. Unfortunately, Hamilton gives up during the test.

It gains a few weeks later, the race against the clock of the Olympic Games of Athens. Following this race, the test anti-doping of the first sample reveals a doping by blood transfusion, but the second sample having been badly preserved, the counter-evaluation is impossible and Tyler can preserve its title.

In September 2004, during the Vuelta, just after its victory in a Against-the-watch, it is controlled positive with a doping by blood transfusion. Its team, Phonak lays off it and he is condemned to a 2 year old suspension. Moreover, UCI will prevent it of any collaboration with a team of the ProTour for four years. In July 2006, it was also quoted in famous the Affaire Puerto.

September 1st 2006, the team of the United States of cycling on road does not retain it for the Mondiaux 2006, from September 19th to 24th with Salzburg (Austria)
