Tycoon is a word English derived from the word Japanese “Taikun” (大君) meaning “great man” or “prince”, the term is itself of Chinese origin.
He is not used any more nowadays, but during the Period Edo, the word was used to appoint the large military chiefs.
In English, “tycoon” means “tycoon”, i.e. great man of businesses. One uses the same term in French (more current than " nabab").
Music
Tycoon is also the adaptation in English of the musical comedy Starmania of Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon. It was adapted by Tim Rice. Tycoon never will not be assembled in anglophone territory, but will be played Mogador theater by the French troop every Friday evenings of season 1993-1994 of Starmania .
