The Twist (of the English verb meaning “to twist itself”) is a Musical genre and a Danse, derived from the Rock' roll.
Its origin goes back to 1959, with the piece The Twist of Hank Ballard, being reproduced on a face B of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters , which will be popularized when it is taken again in 1960 by Chubby Checker (title taken again French by the Black Socks: the twist ).
Other successes:
- Chubby Checker : Twist again (taken again by Johnny Hallyday: Come to dance the twist )
- Joey Dee & the Starliters: Peppermint Twist (on the Mexican air of Cielito Lindo , taken again by Black Socks)
- Signal Notes: Twist And Shout (taken again inter alia by the Beatles)
- The Wiggles: Edge you (not your finger and C the twist)
