Tuxedomoon

Tuxedomoon is an experimental group avant-gardist with the rather electronic style Cold wave. It was one of the first groups of the Californian Culture underground to mix synthés, printer records and violins.

Biography

In 1977, the group is formed with San Francisco. It starts to be made known by making the first part of Devo and with the song No tears , their first success in 1978.

In 1981, he emigrates in Europe, where the environment is ready to accommodate their musical perception, which moves away a little from the " all électronique" and diversifies. Its composition, evolutionary, integrates several creative personalities like Ivan Georgiev, Winston Tong and Blaine Reininger. They sign with a recording company of Brussels, Crammed Discs, in 1985.

In 1988, the group is put in sleep. A career rich followed by projects in solo for all the members. Steven Brown leaves several albums solo (and collaborates in particular with the Belgian type-setter Marc Lerchs), and redesigns a new group Nine Rain in Mexico. In 1997, Tuxedomoon reappears under the impulse of three founding members: Steven Brown Peter Principle and Blaine Reininger, living respectively in Mexico, New York and in Greece. Its music evolves/moves while remaining deeply original and just, experimental and more or less inventive, breaker of new territories, of which the growing influence of the Jazz. The album of these meeting again, " Cabin In The Sky" , leaves in 2004.

In 2006, the album Bardo Hotel Soundtrack is a collaboration with the Greek video artist George Kakanakis and illustrates the original soundtrack of the film which the group carried out.

In 2007, a box birthday, celebrating the thirty years of the group, will have left in October, including/understanding their new album, " Vapor Trails" , just as CD of scarcities hitherto ever left and a dvd including/understanding vidéos group and documentary. A biography, entitled Music For Vagrants - The Tuxedomoon Chronicles, feather of Isabelle Corbisier, will also leave in autumn.
