Tutor

  • a tutor is a person in charge of education and instruction of a child resulting from a noble or easy family which remains in her family and does not attend any establishment of public education or private.

  • With the XIIe and XIIIe century, a tutor was the person in charge elected of a Commanderie of the Ordre of the Temple, also called préceptorie or house. The term of Commandeur is more often employed today. This title was also used to name the dignitaries who managed a province templière or a baillie. Example: Geoffroy de Charnay was tutor of Normandy.
