Turret of Punt

The turret of the Punt , or “ Small Old woman ” ( Groac' H Breton Bihan in ), accompanies the Phare by the Old woman in the Raz of Center, vis-a-vis the Pointe of the Strong current (Finistere, Brittany, France).
History
The commission of the headlights decides at its meeting of June 5th 1886 of the construction of a turret near the Phare of the Old woman, who was then in construction.
The building site begins in 1887, but must quickly be stopped, because the vapor necessary to its construction, Confidence , is used elsewhere.
Work will be able to take again in 1893 and will be completed in 1896. The octagonal turret takes support on a cylindrical basis, these two parts being in Reinforced concrete. The whole rises with approximately 9,50 meters above the highest seas.
December 4th 1896, is a few months after construction was finished, a violent storm breaks out on the turret: she will be decapitated. Rebuilding works will thus be undertaken during the next summer, but they will be finished only in 1909 following many difficulties. The first tests take place in 1910. August 31st 1911, a permanent green fixed light fed with oil gas is installed.
Current role
Currently, the turret has role of cardinal west, indicating to leave the turret to the east. From night, it comprises a white fire scintillating of period 1,2 second.
