Turonien

The Turonien is a stratigraphic stage higher Crétacé. One locates it between -93,5  ±  0,8 and -89,3  ±  1,0  My, after the Cénomanien and before the Coniacien.

Stratotype

Turonien owes its name at the French city of Tours.

Its biostratigraphic base is defined by the appearance of the Ammonite Watinoceras devonense . Its top corresponds to the appearance of the Bivalve Cremnoceramus rotundatus .
