The Turner Field (before Centennial Olympic Stadium , called The Ted ) is a stage of Baseball located close to the site of old the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium (today demolished) at the south-east of the intersection between the Interstate 85 and the Interstate 20 at Atlanta in Georgia. The stage was baptized Turner Field according to the name of the owner of the Braves of Atlanta, Ted Turner (therefore the building is called The Ted ).

Since the April 4th 1997, it is the residence of a team of Baseball MLB evolving/moving in division Is National league, the Braves of Atlanta. Its capacity is of 50.096 places and it has 59 continuations of luxury and 3 parties continuations. In the north of the stage is 8.500 parking spaces.

History

In the beginning builds for the Olympic Games of summer of 1996 with Atlanta, Turner Field is now a site to observe the matches of Baseball. With a Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium growing old, the Braves wanted to replace it to build a new enclosure towards the end of the year 1980. With the advertisement that the Olympic Games of summer of 1996 would be played Atlanta, the city and the Braves joined their forces to build a stage. It would accommodate the Olympic Games in the first time and would be then converted into stage of Base-ball. The design of the building was entrusted to a called architectural team of firms Atlanta Stadium Design TEAM (Heery International, Rosser International, Williams-Russell and Johnson and Ellerbe Becket). Outside is out of brick and calcareous stone, similar at other stages. Provisional steps were built in except field to take account of a greater capacity for the Olympic Games with 85.000 places. The stage was inaugurated the July 19th 1996 with the opening of the OJ under the name of Centennial Olympic Stadium and it cost $235 million dollars (financed by Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games). After the Plays were finished, the stage was reconverted in ground of Base-ball of 49.831 places (increased later in 50.096 places). The columns which supported the provisional steps are now posts which surrounds the Monument Grove plaza.

Built beside the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, the Braves played their first inauguratif match in Turner Field the April 4th 1997 against the Cubs of Chicago.

It was the site of the Match of stars of the major League of baseball 2000 ( MLB All-Star Range ) the July 11th 2000.

The multitude recorded highest for a match of season of the Braves to Atlanta is of 53.953 spectators the July 21st 2007, against the Cardinals of Saint-Louis. That for the playoffs is of 54.357 spectators the October 5th 2003, against the Cubs of Chicago.

Description

While arriving at the stage, much of visitors their vehicles in the north of the stage in the immense carpark of 8.500 places park. Going towards the stage, they pass above the old site of the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. There are many entries around the stage, the majority of the visitors entering by Large Entry Plaza. Inside this zone east includes a sector of entertainment with Scouts Alley and Tooner Field. A photograph (30 meters diameter) of the 715e Coup of circuit of Hank Aaron dominates Plaza close to the display board. Beside Plaza is located the Brave men Hall off Famed (Temple of famous) and the Grove Monument.

When one enters the stage one is on the level of the ground. Slopes, staircases, and escalators give access the level of the terrace, Lexus level, and the higher levels. Lexus level is located between the continuations and the Terrace level. The 755 restoring Club is a private restaurant located at the Club level above the left field. Coca-Cola Sky Field is a zone which has tables of picnic, of the sights of the stage and the town of Atlanta, and Coke a giant bottle of 11 meters. Before the season 2005 the stage undergone some restorations and among the improvements was the installation of a giant screen high-definition of 24 meters out of 22 meters for $10 million dollars, it was enumerated in the Guinness of the records like largest of the world. Since then, other stages including/understanding the Dolphin Stadium with Miami, the Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium with Austin (Texas), and a hippodrome with Tokyo installed some larger.

Attractions in Turner Field include: Turner Beach, this one is located on Lexus Level in the right field giving on the ground and comprising a bar, salesmen of food, a sector of picnic, and long chairs. Before the beginning of the season 2005, the Brave men spent $15 million in the improvements of Turner Field.
