Turn with lead of Couëron
The turn with lead of Couëron is one of the last buildings of the time industrialist Nantes of the 19th century.
It belonged to a factory belonging to the Société of the foundries and rolling mills of Couëron built in 1861 on the edges of the the Loire to Couëron in Loire-Atlantique, which treated the lead ore of any source and had rolling mills with brass and copper. It will become, with the wire of time, the factory of lead the Old woman towards 1935, then factory Pontgibaud , and finally factory Tréfimétaux and which will close its doors in December 1988. It belongs now to the town of Couëron.
The construction of the tower was finished in July 1878. It rises with approximately 70 meters height and its diameter is of 11,30 meters.
It allowed the manufacture of leads of Chasse.
Technique
After having dissolved Plomb to return it liquid, one made it run out the top of the tower through a grid gauged, which made it possible to obtain fine lead droplets which, during their falls, took a spherical form and finished their races in a cooling water vat.

The turn with lead is located in the south of the commune of Couëron, on the edges of the the Loire, quay Emile Paraf.

The turn with lead of Couëron was classified historic building in February 1993.
